Residential Rates

Rates

Rate classification and assignment shall be made by Karnes Electric in accordance with the application and type of service provisions in its rate schedules. Rate schedules have been developed for the standard types of service provided by the cooperative. Rate availability includes the following:

Residential Service

Availability

Residential service is applicable for residential uses in accordance with the Cooperative’s Service Rules and Regulations for:

  1. Service to individually metered permanent residential dwellings; and
  2. Service to water wells where the water is utilized for domestic, residential purposes.

The Residential Service Rate is applicable for electric service used exclusively for residential purposes, and is not applicable for service to a residence also used for any nonresidential or commercial purpose including but not limited to retail businesses, restaurants, repair services or any other nonresidential activity. Service under this schedule is limited to individual single‐phase motors not greater than twenty-five (25) horsepower and to three phase motors..

Type of Service

The electric service furnished hereunder shall be single‐phase, 60 hertz, at the cooperative’s standard secondary voltages.

Area Light Service

Availability

Area Lighting Service is available to Members of the Cooperative for the lighting of outdoor areas in accordance with the Cooperative’s Service Rules and Regulations.

Type of Service and Monthly Rate

On and after November 1, 2021 the Cooperative shall provide new service, or service to an existing location of a Discontinued Fixture, and shall install only the following fixture types and sizes at the specified monthly rate:

Large LED Area Light $16.50
Standard LED Flood Light $24.00

250 Watt High Pressure Sodium $16.60

400 Watt Metal Halide $23.00

Type of Service and Monthly Rate
  1. Replacement of bulbs will be made by the Cooperative at no cost for the labor and/or bulbs unless the replacement is required because of malicious mischief and vandalism, including breakage due to rocks, bullets, etc. For the first instance of damage due to malicious mischief or vandalism, the Cooperative shall replace the bulb at no cost to the member. For all subsequent instances of damage due to malicious mischief or vandalism, the Member shall pay the replacement cost of the damaged parts, plus the trip fee as specified in Section 205.1B. If the Member refuses to pay the replacement cost plus the specified trip fee, the Cooperative may remove the fixture, and shall not be obligated to install a fixture at the existing location or any proximate location.
  2. If the Member requests that the Cooperative replace any fixture or non‐damaged part of any fixture, or that the Cooperative install a different type of fixture, then the Member shall pay a trip fee, as specified in Section 205.1, plus the cost of the new fixture and/or replacement parts, plus $25.00 labor.
  3. Upon termination of service, the Cooperative shall have the right to remove from the property of the Member any equipment which the Cooperative may have installed to provide service under this schedule.

Fees

Membership Fee: $5.00 (Refundable upon termination of service)
Consumer Deposit: The cooperative may require that you maintain a deposit balance up to the estimated billing for the sum of the three average months during a 12-month period. A lesser or no deposit may be required with satisfactory credit rating.
Investigation Fee: $75.00
Miscellaneous Service Fee: $125.00
Disconnection and/or Reconnection Fee: $75.00*
Collection Fee: $75.00*
Returned Check Fee: $35.00
Meter Test Fee: $100.00 – $150.00
Delinquent Accounts Fee: 5.0%
Reproduction of Tariff Sheets: At cost
Temporary Service: $200.00 Plus any applicable line extension costs
Meter Reading Fee: $75.00
Meter Tampering Fee: $200.00
Line Relocation: At cost

Retail Electric Switchovers
Base Charge: $160.00
Base Charge adder: $60.00
Area Light Install Fee: $50.00 Plus any applicable line extension costs

*Before 8:00 a.m. or after 5:00 p.m. and on weekends/holidays, add $50.00.

Delinquent Accounts

Your bill is considered delinquent if payment has not been received in the cooperative’s offices within sixteen (16) days after the bill is issued. A disconnect notice will be mailed stating the account will be disconnected without further notice if the past due amount is not paid within ten (10) days.
