Our 88th Annual Meeting was held on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at the Karnes City ISD Performing Arts Center.

Members can watch the Annual Meeting Videos and hear the updates from our President, Secretary Treasurer, and General Manager. Our 2025 Annual Report is also available for members to view.

As communities in the KEC service territory experience major flooding we want to encourage our members to reach out for support. Below are two resources we have available for members impacted by flooding.

KEC has a Volunteer Time Off (VTO) program and employees are able to lend a helping hand and support local recovery efforts. Organizations coordinating recovery efforts are encouraged to contact KEC.

In July, 2026, Karnes Electric had the opportunity to meet local non-profits and support their cause with the KEC Grant Program. The Grant Program is partnered with CoBank Sharing Success Program, aimed to support local communities and people.

This year, KEC is proud to recognize Heart of a Dinosaur, SJRC Texas & Belong, and Vida Resource Center as our 2026 Recipients. Each organization received a $10,000 donation to help fund their program and give back to our community.

Hurricane Season

June 1st marks the beginning of Hurricane Season. Karnes Electric wants you to be prepared in the event of a hurricane. Here are some steps to prepare for a potential threat.

Members can also sign up for emergency notifications through SmartHub. For assistance contact our office at 888-87-3952.

Remember to always stay from downed power lines as they may be energized and contact us immediately.

88th ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

Karnes Electric Cooperative hosted its 88th Annual Membership Meeting on June 11th.

Our members had the opportunity to stop by between 12:00pm – 7:00pm to register, vote, and receive a free bag. Following registration was our In-person portion of the Annual Meeting.

The first 350 members who registered received a $25 bill credit.

We had over 85 door prizes available, including one $250 bill credit.

During our meeting, we presented a President’s, Treasurer’s, and General Manager’s report. Their reports talked about the cooperative’s financial condition, workplan updates, future upcoming projects, and community events.

Karnes Electric Cooperative Announces Scholarship Recipients

Karnes Electric Cooperative is proud to announce the recipients of its 2025 scholarships, awarded to graduating high school seniors from the Karnes EC service area. Each recipient will receive a $2,500 scholarship to support their pursuit of higher education.

To qualify, students must be the children or dependents of an active Karnes EC member receiving electric service from the co-op and demonstrate a commitment to furthering their education.

This year, 20 outstanding students were selected from a pool of highly qualified applicants. Fourteen of the scholarships were awarded to students attending four-year universities, while six were granted to students enrolling in qualifying vocational colleges.

These scholarships will help empower these students to achieve their academic and career aspirations. Karnes EC congratulates the recipients on their accomplishments and wishes them success in their educational journeys.
