2017 KEC Scholarships
On September 1, 1997, Texas House Bill 3203 was enacted allowing nonprofit cooperatives to put unclaimed capital credit funds, previously collected by the Texas Comptroller’s Office for the State General Fund, to use for student scholarships. Karnes Electric Cooperative, Inc. established its scholarship program in 1998 and has since then awarded $155,200 in scholarships.

The Karnes Electric Cooperative, Inc. Board of Directors have approved ten $1,500 scholarships to be awarded for the 2016-2017 school year. These scholarships will be available to graduating high school seniors who are a legal dependent of an active member receiving electric service from Karnes Electric Cooperative, Inc. These scholarships are used to assist with the rising costs of academic, technical and vocational higher education.
